Checq — Privacy Policy

Checq is a browser extension that displays the DNS information (IP, NS, and TXT records) of the website you are currently viewing. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles and how. In short: Checq handles only the domain name of your active tab, only when you ask it to, and stores nothing.

What data we handle

• The hostname (domain) of your active tab — for example example.com — and only at the moment you click the Checq toolbar icon. We do not read page contents, form data, or any other tab.

We do not collect or process any personally identifiable information, authentication details, financial data, location, browsing history, personal communications, cookies, or analytics.

How the data is used

When you click the Checq icon, the extension reads the hostname of the current tab and sends it to our own API at api.checq.intercube.io to look up that domain's public DNS records. The results are shown to you in the extension popup. That is the sole purpose of the request.

Storage, sharing, and selling

• The hostname is used transiently to fulfil your request and is not stored or retained by the extension.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party.
• We do not use the data for advertising, tracking, profiling, or to determine creditworthiness.
• As with any internet request, standard connection metadata (such as your IP address) is necessarily processed in transit by our server to return a response; it is not used to identify or track you and is not retained for those purposes.

Permissions we request

• activeTab — grants Checq access to the current tab only when you click the icon, so it can read that tab's hostname. It does not run in the background and does not monitor your browsing.

Data security

Requests to api.checq.intercube.io are made over HTTPS. Because no user data is stored by the extension, there is no data at rest to breach.

Children's privacy

Checq is a general-purpose developer/network utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
